 Music Department Update March 2008

It has been an extremely busy term for the Music Department at St. James' School. On Sunday 3rd February, the Academy Girls' Choir sang beautifully at a special evensong at St. Bartholomew's Church, Riby.  Accompanied by Mr Williams at the organ, they led the music for the service as well as singing an anthem.

The main musical focus for this term has centred around the production of not one, but two school shows, which sought to involve both the Prep and Senior Schools.  This has meant working intensively with Prep 3 through to Prep 6 in their class music lessons, as well as regular rehearsals at lunchtimes and after school for all year groups.

A tremendous amount of time and effort has gone into the production of Resurrection Rock and Godspell, by staff and students alike.  This all culminated in three sell out performances on the 27th and 28th March, when drama, art and music came together to re-tell the Easter message of hope in a vibrant and uplifting way.
