ART & DESIGN AT ST. JAMES' SCHOOL
Key Stage 3
At this level students are encouraged to:
Work creatively and imaginatively,
Respond to the world
Explore colour, form, texture and pattern,
Use different materials,
Communicate what they see, feel and think,
Make judgements and decisions,
Explore ideas and meanings in the work of artists.
GCSE Art & Design (Edexcel)
This is an exciting course, which encourages an adventurous and enquiring approach to art and design.
Students develop practical artistic skills and abilities, with their knowledge and understanding of the study of art.
Gallery visits and workshops are an integral part of the course. These may include:
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park,
The Tate Modern / The Tate Britain – London,
The Millenium Galleries / The Graves Gallery – Sheffield,
The Ropewalk – Barton.
GCE Art & Design (Edexcel)
This course enables students to explore a range of two-dimensional and three-dimensional approaches to studies in Art.
They are encouraged to use their creative skills to express individual thoughts, feelings, observations and ideas in visual form. In doing so, they will also try to extend their own and others’ ways of seeing the world.
They will develop their practical artistic skills and abilities and their knowledge and understanding of art and design in contemporary society and in other times and cultures.
Art Club
An opportunity to work creatively and imaginatively on alternative projects.
