Foster Memorial Concert and Political Forum

Pictures are from this year's J.D.Foster Memorial Concert, which was held in the Markham Hall in November. This year, the prize was shared between David Whitworth and Emily Stevenson, who were both in Year 7 when the award was made. This must make the pair of them the youngest ever winners. The concert was excellent and was very well attended.

 

Political Forum

Students at St. James' got the chance to quiz the three politicians hoping to be the town's next MP at a special Question Time event on Friday 20th November. Current Great Grimsby MP, Austin Mitchell (Lab), and prospective parliamentary candidates, Victoria Ayling (Con) and Andrew De Freitas (Lib Dem) fielded questions from youngsters keen to know what they would do for the town if elected next year. Adopting the format of BBC's flagship political show, students in the audience asked the panel questions on a range of issues, from health and education, to transport and the fox hunting ban, whilst Head Boy, Jake Pickering, took on the mantle of David Dimbleby by chairing proceedings.

Inter-House Science Challenge

Pictures show some of the Suspension Bridge designs from the recent Years 5, 6, 7 and 8 Inter-House Science Challenge, which was held in the Markham Hall. Lindsey House were the worthy winners of the competition.
