Sports Day 2009

More long standing records broken at Sports Day!

After rain had postponed the first attempt, Sports Day finally got underway on Tuesday 19th May, 2009 and thankfully the weather held, leading to an exciting afternoon.

Seven new records were set on the day, including one in the first race of the afternoon, when Emma Brown knocked 15 seconds off Jaime McIntosh's 800m time of 2 minutes 59 seconds, which was set in 1989!

Other new records were as follows:

  • Junior Girls' 300m: Emma Brown - 53.3 seconds
    (beating Fay Lashbrook's 2003 time of 60 seconds)
     
  • Intermediate Girls' 100m: Christy Mayo - 13.9 seconds
    (beating Jaime McIntosh's 1991 time of 14.3 seconds)
  • Intermediate Girls' 300m: Sarah Collins - 53.0 seconds
    (beating Heather's 2005 time of 56.3 seconds)
  • Intermediate Girls' 800m: Sarah Collins - 2m 54s
    (beating Tara McClure's 1990 time of 2m 57s)
  • Junior Boys' 100m:  Sam Lee - 14.6 seconds
    (beating Henry Pinchbeck's 1989 time of 14.8 seconds)
  • Intermediate Boys' Discus: Henry Tang - 25.99m
    (beating Charlie Sharpe's 2007 distance of 25.3m)

 

Jordan Syrett won the Victrix Ludorum, with victories in the Senior Girls' 200m and Long Jump, along with a second place in the Shot Put.

Will Ridgway won the Victor Ludorum, after a win in the Senior Boys' 400m and two second places in the 200m and Discus.

Walkerly stormed to victory in the House Competition.
