A group of year 11 students attended the Council for Young People Local Democracy Conference in Grimsby Town Hall on Friday 10th October. Delegates from the Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Caistor schools took part in workshops, discussing issues of concern to all young people. Their views were recorded and passed on to relevant members of the Local Council. Subjects discussed included: bullying, leisure activities, regeneration of the local area, young people, and crime.
Our delegates were fully involved all day and came back from the conference with lots of ideas. Some have decided that they wish to become further involved in the Councils work.
One of our year 10 pupils is a member of the Council and was a facilitator at the conference, leading the Leisure Activities workshop.
